TrustyFile - Document Fraud Detector

TrustyFile is a free PDF document analysis tool. It detects signs of manipulation, forgery and inconsistencies in invoices, proof of address, pay slips and other administrative documents.

Inspired by VirusTotal, TrustyFile analyzes your document through multiple detection modules and assigns a trust score from 0 to 100.

What TrustyFile detects

Why TrustyFile

Use cases

Checking a tampered invoice

A retouched amount, an altered invoice date or a swapped IBAN almost always leave technical traces in the PDF: an extra incremental revision, a different font on a single line, an image pasted over the original text. TrustyFile surfaces those signals and locates them on the document preview.

Verifying a proof of address

Energy, telecom and internet bills are routinely used as proof of address. TrustyFile compares the PDF metadata against the expected issuing software and flags files that have been round-tripped through an online converter or a PDF editor.

Verifying a pay slip or a tax notice

Recent French administrative documents carry a 2D-Doc barcode. TrustyFile decodes it, compares the encoded data with the visible text and reports any divergence. Digital identity documents are checked through the MRZ checksums.

Telling whether a PDF has been modified

A PDF keeps a history of its successive saves. TrustyFile counts the revisions and detects deleted objects still present in the file, hidden or covered text, and embedded JavaScript.

What TrustyFile does not do

TrustyFile is a decision-support tool, not a certification authority. It computes a risk score from technical indicators. A high score does not prove a document is authentic, and a scanned, flattened document yields little signal: in that case TrustyFile reports it as unverifiable rather than scoring it well by default.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does TrustyFile work?
Upload a PDF and TrustyFile automatically analyzes it through multiple modules: metadata, content consistency, fonts, embedded images, internal PDF structure and external verification (company ID, VAT). A trust score from 0 to 100 is calculated.
Does TrustyFile store my documents?
No. Your document is analyzed in memory for the duration of the analysis, then discarded: it is never retained on our servers. Only the file hash and company identifiers (SIRET, VAT) may be sent to external APIs for verification.
What types of fraud can TrustyFile detect?
TrustyFile detects PDF metadata tampering, font inconsistencies, impossible or anachronistic dates, image manipulation, PDF structure modifications and verifies company identifiers.
Is TrustyFile free?
Yes, completely free with no registration. No usage limits, no subscription.
Can TrustyFile certify that a document is authentic?
No. TrustyFile provides a risk score based on technical indicators. A high score means few signs of manipulation, but does not guarantee authenticity. A low score flags anomalies that deserve verification.
What file formats are supported?
Currently, TrustyFile supports PDF files. Support for other formats (images, DOCX) is planned for a future version.
